Some special places gift you a bit of their spirit when you leave and when you close your eyes, as you have some how broken the chains of time, you travel back and vividly relive those memories. We had no idea visiting Bali would have such a profound influence on us. No matter how the years pass we still think fondly about the time we spent in this part of Indonesia. Bali has an unapologetically bold, mystical, ancient presence and she made sure we knew that right as we stepped off the plane.
Ubud, a town known for its traditional Balinese art and dance, was one of our first stops. It’s a magical town with landscapes that include humble rice paddies, intricately decorated ancient temples, rivers with stunning ancient stone carvings snaking its way through the deep ravines of the gorgeously emerald green rain forests. We honestly could have spent the whole two weeks of our trip exploring this area alone. Yet, for the short time we stayed in Ubud, our time was filled with unexpected experiences, such as zipping through the bustling little town and rainforest on mopeds, experiencing a traditional Balinese Fire Dance in an ancient temple or seeing fireflies for the first time. These moments and the towns people we have met will leave a life long impression on us.
We are continuously infatuated and hypnotized by our time in Ubud so we decided to capture an impression of our experiences through sound the best as we can to share with you all. “Fireflies in Ubud” is a cumulation of the sights, sounds and the vibe we felt in this artsy Indonesian town. We wanted to create a more natural organic sounding track with a mixture of samples that best captured some of the sounds we remember from our trip. The track starts with soundscape that sounds much like the center of the busy town with artisans working on their wooden carvings and the market place where you can get the most delicious mangosteens. We then continue the journey by exploring the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary which throws you into what looks like a set from an Indiana Jones movie. The track has sprinkles of sounds that reminded us of when we watched the amazing Fire Dance which we were in awe of how many dancers and performers were involved. Whenever we listen to the track we also think of those more relaxed moments rafting down the river through the rainforest viewing huge carvings in the side of a large rock depicting a mystical scene. And we finish our travels with a ride through the rainforest to the Hanging Garden Resort to take in the majestic view.
This track has an overall chill and cool tone with a 90’s hip hop vibe. If you need a moment to relax and getaway from your reality here is our gift to you. Stream it right now on Spotify, Apple Music or any of our favorite streaming platforms. If you like the track please like, share and follow us on our socials to support. We have been holding onto most of the photos from our trip but we’re now ready to share. Please follow us on our IG to see more. Thank you for all the love and the listens.
